Fact Check

There's a trending HOAX story on the internet stating "Customer Finds "DEEP FRIED RAT" in His KFC Meal." Though it is true that someone claimed to have found a deep fried rat in their meal at KFC, after an investigation the company was able to identify the object as chicken.

A resident of Compton, California claims he was served a"Deep Fried Rat"in a meal he purchased from a local Kentucky Fried Chicken chain. The "Deep Fried Rat" photo has taken the internet by storm after Deandre Dixon posted a photo on his Facebook page of what he claims to be a fried rodent in his KFC meal. According to Dixon, he stored the grotesque remains of his KFC meal in the freezer and returned to the restaurant with photos and his receipt for proof of purchase.

The HOAX story is basically an identical copy of this TRUE story published by the Huffington Post last year. The NOT TRUE story quotes Deandre Dixon, whereas the person that actually made the claim is Devorise Dixon, as seen in the facebook post below:

According to the Huffington Post, after turning the specimen over for testing at an independent lab, the tests confirmed that the chicken tender was made of chicken.
