Report Woman Infect 324 Men With HIV On Purpose Is A Racist Hoax

Fact Check

  • by: Jeremy Smith

There is a NOT TRUE story making the rounds on the internet about a college girl in Kenya with the header "Girl Infects 324 Men With HIV On Purpose, Plans On Infecting 2,000 More Before 2016 Ends". The story comes from a known hoax site but some people don't scroll all the way down the page to see the fine print. Some of the fake stories out there are humorous and harmless, but then you have a NOT TRUE story like this. This kind of story is an example of irresponsible journalism, the kind that creates unwarranted racism and hate.

The story starts with "Social networks in Kenya have been abuzz the past couple of days with the story of a female university student who, over a period of 5 months, infected over 324 men with HIV in "revenge"". NOT TRUE.

The NOT TRUE story goes on to say:

The student, who's name has been withheld, claims to have infect married men, lectures, fellow students and celebrities. According to the report, her aim was to infect 2,000 men with the virus. Her vengeance was met with horror and much criticism from social media. Her new goal is to infect at least 2,000 men as a part of what she believes. I know I have nothing left to do on earth but wait for my death. Surprising, she keeps a list of how many men she has slept with so far and rewarded with HIV. According to her, she already infected 324 men and wanted to finish 2014 with the 2,000 mark.

The story continues:

She also pointed out that pregnancy is out of the question and will continue to preform unsafe sex since people in her area love that kinda of practice. Among the 324 men she infected, 156 are students in the same college wher she goes to and the other are men from outside world such as lectures, married men, lawyers, some celebrities and three politicians.

The images used in the NOT TRUE story of the alleged Kenyan college student are from a NSFW Tweet in 2014, apparently of a person named @Jimmy_Ch000. Good for him. As for the story itself, it is just a rehash of an old HOAX STORY from 2014.
