Fact Check: 'New York Police' Did NOT Say Donald Trump Was Actually 5'10" and 287 Pounds Uncorroborated

Did "New York police" say publicly in April 2025 that President Donald Trump's height and weight were 5'10" and 287 pounds? No, that's not true: Neither the New York Police Department nor the New York State Police made any statement about Trump's physical attributes in response to the publication of his annual physical examination. According to Trump's physician, U.S. Navy Captain Dr. Sean Barbarella, Trump was 6'3" in height and weighed 224 pounds.

The claim appeared in an April 14, 2025 post on X (archived here), which read:

NY police revealed that Trump's actual actual height was 5'10" and his actual weight was 130kg (287lbs). This is consistent with his photographs.

This is what it looked like at the time of writing:

It's not clear whether the term "NY police" referred to the New York City Police Department (NYPD), or New York State Police, but neither agency said anything publicly about Trump's weight or height in the days following his annual physical examination, which took place on April 11. The White House released the doctor's report, which can be read in full here.

In it, Trump's height is listed as 75 inches (6'3") and his weight as 224 pounds.

Lead Stories checked the NYPD's website, as well as its Instagram, X, Facebook and YouTube profiles, and found no mention of the president's physical attributes between April 11 and April 16.

Similarly, the New York State Police's website, as well as its Facebook, X and Instagram accounts, contained no mention of Trump's height or weight during the same date range.

It's possible that the post making the false claim was referring, in error, to a report -- attributed to an anonymous source -- that Trump told NYPD officers he was 6'2" and weighed 240 pounds, during his April 2023 arraignment on felony charges of falsifying business records.
