Fact Check: Video Of Retired Soldier Crying In Court After Judge Drops Charges For Sleeping In A Park Is NOT Real -- It's AI Slop AI Generated

Is a video that shows a retired soldier crying in court after a judge drops charges of sleeping in a park real? No, that's not true: The video was created by a social media account that "features realistic courtroom dramas and storytelling visualizations created with advanced AI technology." The account states that all of their cases and characters are fictionalized dramatizations for entertainment purposes. The original version on YouTube carries a label that says it was AI-generated.

A copy of the video (archived here) was posted without the disclaimer on the Freedom_73X account on X on December 4, 2025. The caption on the post read:

A retired soldier became homeless and was arrested for sleeping in a park. He was awarded the Silver Star medal for rescuing four people from a burning vehicle in Syria. The judge said, "This court dismisses all charges. You are ordered to receive housing assistance immediately."

This is what the post looked like at the time of writing:

The video shows a man standing in court with a voice over that says: "He pulled four men from a burning humvee in Syria, but the judge's verdict made him cry." Then a voice purporting to be a judge describing his decorated military service and announces he will have all of his charges dropped:

He pulled four men from a burning humvee in Syria, but the judge's verdict made him cry. Corporal Davis who pulled four men from a burning humvee in Syria and were awarded the Silver Star. You came home to no support for criminal trespassing while sleeping in a public park. This court dismisses all charges. You are ordered to immediate housing assistance. Your country failed you. Today we fixed that.

A Google search of key phrases returned the same video posted on the YouTube account @CourtsAndCrime (archived here) on December 1, 2025, where the description in the bio clearly states the videos are AI generated:
