Fact Check: Stephen Colbert And Jon Stewart Did NOT Host 'Freedom And Justice' Show About Virginia Giuffre Death -- Spam From Vietnam Viet Spam

Did Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart host a "Freedom and Justice" TV show to discuss the death of Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre that reached one billion views globally? No, that's not true: There is no evidence such a show was ever broadcast. The website and Facebook pages spreading the claim are part of a spam network based in Vietnam that uses AI tools to target Americans and Europeans with fake clickbait. We call it Viet Spam.

The claim appeared in a series of posts, including this post (archived here) published by Open Sky Press Facebook page on January 30, 2026. The text opened:

IN JUST ONE NIGHT, the program "FREEDOM AND JUSTICE", hosted by Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart reached the milestone of 1 BILLION GLOBAL VIEWS -- an unprecedented figure, not driven by entertainment, but by a truth suppressed for 12 years. In the very first episode, the show went straight to the core question: what was truly concealed, and who helped that silence endure?

This is what one of the posts looked like on Facebook at the time of writing:

The post continued:

The focal point referenced was the passing of Virginia Giuffre -- not presented as a verdict, but as a sequence of connections, testimonies, and irregular signs that had long been pushed outside the public spotlight. Statements made by Pam were placed within their chronological context, cross-referenced with records and developments, to clarify how truth can be distorted, how a narrative can be reshaped -- and why, for 12 years, the most critical question has remained unanswered.
There was no emotional background music. No conclusions issued in place of a court. Only facts reassembled, heavy silences, and billions of viewers compelled to ask themselves: when television stops entertaining and begins questioning, do we dare to look directly at what has been concealed?
This is no longer a program -- it is a test of truth.

A Google search (archived here) for the terms "'Freedom and Justice' giuffre billion" returned no credible news about a Colbert and Stewart show. The top search results are all Viet Spam posts shared on Facebook pages managed from Vietnam. A Facebook search (archived here) for the same keywords returns a long list of similar fake posts.

The Open Sky Press Facebook page (archived here) is managed from Vietnam, according to Meta's transparency data:

One major clue that this was created by an artificial intelligence tool managed from Vietnam is there is a glitch on the page that shows an apparent prompt for an image written in Vietnamese:

Có thể là hình ảnh về một hoặc nhiều người, tóc vàng, TV, Phòng Bầu dục, phòng tin tức và văn bản

Translated into English:

It could be an image of one or more people, blonde hair, a TV, the Oval Office, the newsroom, and text.

An examination of the website found it publishes a new AI-generated fake story every few minutes. These stories are then generated into posts that are distributed over many fake Facebook posts managed from Vietnam.

Here is how you can tell from where a suspicious Facebook page is controlled. Click on the page name at the top of the profile page. A box will open that includes a "Transparency and privacy policy" link. Click on that and a box will open showing the countries where the managers are located.

The Vietnam connection is significant, since fact-checkers, including Lead Stories, have identified a major source of AI-generated false stories coming from a single operation based in that Southeast Asian country. You can see recent reporting and fact checks mentioning that country here.

Lead Stories has published a primer -- or a prebunk -- on how to identify these kinds of fake posts exported from Vietnam. It's titled "Prebunk: Beware Of Fake Fan Pages Spreading False Stories About Your Favorite Celebrities -- How To Spot 'Viet Spam'"
