Fact Check: NO 'Baal' Bank Account In Jeffrey Epstein Bank Transfer Document To JP Morgan -- Likely Scanning Error Bank Name

Does a document in the Epstein Files show he had a bank account named "Baal", a demonic figure? No, that's not true: One document that looks like a scanned in fax or document with bank transfer details has the words "Baal. name" in it on a line where one would typically expect to see "Bank Name", and it is followed by "Wachovia Bank", the name of a bank. The only "Account name" mentioned in the document is "One Clearlake Centre, LLC".

The image of the document appeared in a post on X (archived here) on February 1 alongside a text that said:

JUST IN: Jeffrey Epstein had a bank account named 'Baal' and asked someone at JPMorgan to wire him over $11,000.

Baal is a demonic figure and an enemy to Jesus, as written in the Holy Bible.

This was the image of the document in the post:

The key part of the text in the image read:

Please wire Eleven Thousand Four Hundred Thirty Eight Dollars &.10/100
($11,08.10) froin the above. account to:.
Baal. name: Wachovia Bank, N.A.
Routing
Account #;
Account Name: :One Clearlake Centre, LLC
Reference: The Florida Science Foundation -- Invoice 1404

It does not reference a bank account named "Baal". The only "Account Name" that appears in the text is ":One Clearlake Centre, LLC".

There are several other odd spellings and weird typographical elements in the image, such as the second colon after "Account Name" or the use of a semicolon after "Account #". The most likely explanation (besides typos) is that the document is the result of scanning a fax or other document and running it through OCR software to extract the text.

Most likely "Baal. name:" is the garbled version of "Bank Name:". Similar documents (archived here) in the Epstein files appear to show orders for bank transfers as well but rendered as direct scans of faxes. In those scans the line does read "Bank Name:", as can be seen in the example below:
