Is the quote attributed to an unidentified Muslim man that says, "Christians, you're no longer allowed to say Merry Christmas, it's offensive to Muslims" real? No, that's not true: An AI detection tool concluded that a video of the man saying Christians are no longer allowed to say Merry Christmas because it is offensive to Muslims likely contained AI-generated content. There is no evidence that the statement was made by a real person.
The claim appeared in a May 29, 2026, post on Facebook account @DavidJHarrisJr (archived here). The post contained a screenshot of a man speaking into a microphone with a text overlay that read:
'Christians, you're no longer allowed to say "Merry Christmas". It's offensive to us Muslims.'
This is what the screenshot looked like:

The post does not cite any sources or identify the man purporting to say that Christians are no longer allowed to say Merry Christmas because it is offensive to Muslims.
While the post on Facebook is just an image, a video of the man making the statement was published on X account @TrumpsHurricane (archived here) on May 28, 2026. The audio shows signs of AI text-to-speech, which can create a professional-sounding voice but often lacks the natural intonation and rhythm of a human.
