Fact Check: EDITED Image Falsely Shows 'Claw' Hand Of Police Officer Arresting Fatally Stabbed Student Henry Nowak Edited Photo

Does a real image show the "claw" hand of a police officer arresting fatally stabbed student Henry Nowak in Southampton, England, in December 2025? No, that's not true: The image circulating on social media is an edited screenshot from a video released by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary. Lead Stories reviewed the original video and found that at no point did one arresting officer's right hand appear claw-like.

The claim appeared in a post and image (archived here) by British Member of Parliament Robert Jenrick on Facebook on June 2, 2026. It read:

I hope Hampshire Police and the CPS have a good explanation as to why Digwa's brother and father have not yet been charged.

His mother is being sentenced soon for removing the murder weapon from the crime scene.

If his brother and father knew Henry had been stabbed, are they not accessories too?

The brother called 999 to falsely report Henry for racially attacking the murderer.

The father physically detained a dying Henry until the police arrived.

None of them informed the police that Henry had been stabbed. All watched him die, handcuffed, on the ground.

This is what the post looked like on Facebook at the time of writing:

Vickrum Digwa, 23, was convicted (archived here) of murdering 18-year-old student Henry Nowak at Southampton Crown Court on May 28, 2026. On June 1, 2026, he was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years. Nowak was stabbed to death in Southampton, England, on Dec. 3, 2025.

WARNING: The following video shows the moments leading up to Henry Nowak's death, which resulted from a stabbing, and may be upsetting to some viewers.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary provided body camera footage (archived here) from the night of the incident. Lead Stories reviewed the video and found that at no point, while Nowak was being handcuffed before officers realized he had been stabbed, did one arresting officer's right hand appear claw-like.
