Fact Check: FAKE Photo Shows Karmelo Anthony Crying In Court -- No Cameras Were Allowed No Cameras

Does a real photo show Karmelo Anthony crying in court? No, that's not true: No cameras were allowed in the courtroom during the Karmelo Anthony trial, so no authentic courtroom photos exist. Additionally, Anthony's hairstyle in the image does not match his appearance at the time of the trial -- the post-sentencing mugshot released by the Collin County jail on June 9, 2026, shows close-cropped hair consistent with courtroom sketches, not the hairstyle in the viral image.

The fake image appeared in a post (archived here) published on X by @Honeys_Money1 on June 9, 2026. It was captioned:

I wish I could hug him 🥲🥲 life man

This is the image included in the post:

This image does not show Anthony at his trial on June 9, 2026. No cameras were allowed in the courtroom, and Anthony's hairstyle at the time of the trial did not match the image. June 1, 2026 reporting from WFAA in Dallas, Texas explained the trial rules (archived here):

Judge John Roach Jr. has banned cameras, livestreams and audio recording inside the courtroom. He also designated a security perimeter around parts of the courthouse grounds barring the public -- and potential demonstrators -- from gathering in those areas. The judge has also issued a gag order limiting public comments about the case from attorneys, witnesses, investigators and others directly involved in the proceedings.

After Anthony's sentencing, a new mugshot (archived here) was released by the Collin County jail. Anthony has a close-cropped hairstyle, in contrast to the medium-length dreadlocks pictured (archived here) in the mugshot taken at the time of his arrest in April 2025.

The hairstyle pictured in the new mugshot is consistent with the hairstyle (pictured below) in a courtroom sketch from June 4, 2026 (archived here).
