Fact Check: Sophie Cunningham Did NOT Say LeBron James 'Doesn't Have the Correct Genitalia' To Discuss Trans Women In Sports Satire Page

Did WNBA star Sophie Cunningham say LeBron James "doesn't have the correct genitalia" to discuss transgender women in sports? No, that's not true: The claim originated on a Facebook page known for posting satirical content that carries the disclaimer, "Nothing on this page is real." The image in the original post also bears the same warning label. Lead Stories found no credible news coverage of any such statement.

The claim appeared in a post and image (archived here) by the @sublimeamerica account on X on July 30, 2026. It read:

Sophie Cunningham says she 'couldn't care less' if LeBron James is disappointed about her stance on men in women's sports.

'Floppy should stay out of it,' Cunningham told Sports Illustrated. 'He doesn't have the correct genitalia to have an opinion on this'

This is what the post looked like at the time of writing:

The post that spawned the claim came from the America -- Love It Or Leave It (Allod) Facebook page (archived here). It is a satire page published by Christopher Blair. Blair is a self-described liberal with a documented history of publishing satirical or fabricated content. He also runs another satire page called America's Last Line Of Defense (ALLOD) (archived here). The page's description states, "Nothing on this page is real."

The original post (archived here) by America -- Love It Or Leave It (Allod) appeared on Facebook on July 29, 2026. It read:

Sophie Cunningham says she 'couldn't care less' if LeBron James is disappointed in her stance on men in women's sports.

'Floppy should stay out of it,' Cunningham told Sports Illustrated. 'He doesn't have the correct genitalia to have an opinion on this.'

Cunningham still refuses to apologize for saying out loud what we've all been thinking, which James called 'sad and disappointing.'

'So is the fact that he won't retire, but you don't see me complaining.'

News searches

Lead Stories searched Google News (archived here) and Yahoo News (archived here) and did not find any matching reports about the claim from credible news outlets using the search terms: "Sophie Cunningham," "LeBron James," "genitalia" and "trans women."

In an ESPN profile article (archived here) published on July 21, 2026, Cunningham spoke about transgender women in sports, but the conversation did not include James.
