Was the sound of a fart part of a White House event with President Donald Trump? No, that's not true: The original recordings of the May 11, 2026, Oval Office meeting didn't feature it. The sound was digitally added in the version of the video shared on social media in early August 2026.
The claim appeared in a post on TikTok published by @brilliant.gomez on Aug. 8, 2026. The banner across the video read:
Trump wakes himself up after audible fart during White House briefing
That was followed by a caption consisting of hashtags:
#democrat #maga #republican #liberal #progressive.

In the video, Trump first appeared to open his eyes after the sound of the fart. However, credible sources don't confirm this was what made him re-enter active participation in the meeting.
The recording of the May 11, 2026, livestream from the White House did not document the sound. Neither did the C-SPAN footage of the event.
That was not the first case of doctored audio involving the sound of a fart in this context. Lead Stories previously wrote about audio from another video clip of Trump that included the added sound of a fart.
