Does a real video, filmed secretly from behind a door, show Elon Musk observing a portal at SpaceX? No, that's not true: This video is linked to a creator who makes AI-generated videos and music. Although the portal video with Musk's likeness was posted without a disclaimer, one day earlier the same account published a similar video with an AI label on YouTube showing Musk and an alien at SpaceX.
The claim appeared in a video (archived here) published by the @timeabyss account on TikTok on Aug. 18, 2026. It read:

The account and its videos on TikTok have no AI disclaimers. The AI detection tools, Hive Moderation, FauxLens, OpenAI Verify, and Google Gemini did not find conclusive evidence the video is AI, although a second video posted by this account, with a space alien, strongly suggests that is the case. This fact check will describe the associations between these two videos and several social media accounts.
The @timeabyss (archived here) account has only two videos posted publicly on TikTok. The profile picture shows a clockface morphing into a whirlpool. The tagline (pictured below) adds a suspenseful context to go along with these two secret SpaceX videos, one with a portal and the other with an alien:

The link youtube.com/@timeabyss (archived here) goes to a YouTube account named Time Abyss with only one video about the "The Mystery of the Maya" -- but not the SpaceX videos. This YouTube account has a different profile picture with a familiar theme -- a clockface morphing into a whirlpool (pictured below left). Another account, also named Time Abyss, youtube.com/@Realtimeabyss (archived here) has the same profile picture as the TikTok account. At the time of writing, the only videos publicly visible on this account are the two SpaceX themed videos (pictured below right). The tagline says:
Recovered footage... Subscribe.

AI disclosures on YouTube (archived here) may be added by the content creator, by YouTube if the video was created with their tools, or by YouTube if the media has Content Credentials data indicating it was made with AI. Side by side, the two videos, both less than ten seconds long, appear to be very similar; framing, lighting, topic, and scale. The 10-second portal video (below left) posted Aug. 18, 2026, has no disclaimer (archived here). The eight-second alien video (archived here) posted on Aug. 17, 2026, has an AI label (pictured below right) but it is not clear who applied the label. The disclaimer read:

Lead Stories found one more account which had posted both of these SpaceX videos on Facebook: 730wavy, which has the handle @730wavyTV. The alien video (archived here) was uploaded to Facebook on Aug. 17, 2026, and the portal video (archived here) on Aug. 18, 2026.
Videos on YouTube and Facebook were posted with the same captions and most of the same hashtags as appear in the @timeabyss videos on TikTok. All of the video pairs appear on their respective accounts with the corresponding watermarks and without traces of watermark removal. This suggests that @730wavyTV, @timeabyss and @realtimeabyss all had access to the original unwatermarked videos to which their mark was added.

The Facebook account does not have clearly stated disclaimers, but the thumbnails of the reels (pictured below) show some obviously AI-generated scenes including a crocodile in overalls, soccer player Erling Haaland swimming with a polar bear, and a monkey singing in a shower.
