Did Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni wear a Palestinian flag as a cape while at the U.N.? No, that's not true: The AI detector ZeroGPT determined the video of Meloni's alleged protest was created with AI. A visual analysis also revealed that the flag shown in the video does not match the real Palestinian flag, and the U.N. emblem shown differs from the organization's official emblem.
The claim appeared in a post made by the X account @ElmasriMom94009 on Sept. 24, 2026 (archived here). The post included a video, with a caption that read:

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni: "I am a woman and also a mother.
I cannot stand with someone who kills innocent children." The brave woman continued to walk around wearing a Palestinian flag around her neck in front of Netanyahu.

The video included a TikTok watermark from the TikTok account @ss__zzza24. That account posted the video on April 30, 2026 (archived here), with the caption:
Stand with palestine share and repost please#giorgiameloni #italypm #palestine #freepalestine #gaza
However, the events depicted in the video are not real. The video shows obvious signs of being AI-generated. The movements of Meloni are halted and repetitive, and Netanyahu and those who surround him all make similar movements executed at the same time.
Meloni's flag is only reminiscent of Palestine's flag, but it is not actually the Palestinian flag. The real flag contains only three stripes (black, white, and green), with a red triangle in the left corner (archived here). Similarly, the details of the U.N. emblem in the video differ from the organization's official emblem (archived here). These inconsistencies are circled and compared in the images below:

Searches of Google News (archived here) and Yahoo News (archived here) did not generate results of any credible sources reporting on Meloni's alleged protest.
