Fake/prank news website React356 posted a hoax article titled "Alligator spotted in the Ohio River". It opens:
The Ohio river is known for it's vast selection of weird fish and creatures in the water. People have seen everything from small fresh water sharks to Alligator Gar. Well now you can add Alligators to that list. On July 23rd 2017 Ben Shoemaker and his family were swimming in the Ohio river when they noticed something in the water. Ben told us "it was a hot humid day so we decided to take a dip". He said "at first I thought it was a log. That sucker must have been at least 9ft long, he was huge".
Of course it is not true: React365 is a prank website where users can submit their own headline, description and photo to create realistic looking prank news articles.
Users don't even need to upload their own image, there is a built-in search function that will pull an appropriate image from Google image search. The actual image used with the story was taken in 2011 in Florida at the Myakka River State Park.
This prank has fooled thousends of people already as Trendolizer graph at the end of this article. If you notice anyone being nervous about alligators in the Ohio river, put them at ease and send them over here.
