Fake News: Yusuf Al-Jamanbred NOT Shot In The Stomach For Supporting Donald Trump

Was a man named Yusuf Al-Jamanbred shot in the stomach for supporting Donald Trump? No, that's not true: a meme claiming he took a bullet for supporting the president was made up by a Facebook page that deliberately posts things that will goad conservatives and Trump supporters into sharing them so the fans of the page can then mock them for sharing fake news.

The meme was posted on May 27, 2018 by a Facebook page named "America's Last Line Of Defense" (archived here) and it was captioned:

WE SUPPORT YOU!

The text on the image read:

This is Yusuf Al-Jamanbred. He was shot in the stomach for supporting Donald Trump. Share if he is in your thoughts and prayers.

In reality the picture showed a screenshot from the TV series "Lost" where character Sayid Jarrah (played by Naveen Andrews) has some wounds examined:

Naveen Andrews

Naveen Andrews, Actor: Planet Terror. Born Naveen William Sidney Andrews in London on January 17, 1969. His parents were both Indian immigrants from Kerala, India. In high school, he auditioned for drama school and was accepted at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Two of his classmates were Ewan McGregor and David Thewlis .

And "Al-Jamanbred" is just a lame food pun (jam and bread).

Not surprising given that the "about" section of the Facebook page sharing the meme reads like this:

About
Nothing on this page is real. It is a collection of the satirical whimsies of liberal trolls masquerading as conservatives. You have been warned.
