Fake News: Rapper 'Lil Bibby' NOT In Hospital Following Shootout

Was rapper Lil Bibby shot and is he now in hospital following a shootout? No, that's not true: the "news" was reported by a prank website which tries to fool people into believing it is CBS News through a deceptive domain name. It is not real.

The story originated from an article published on cbsnews.us (not cbsnews.com) on September 8, 2018 titled "Rapper 'Lil Bibby' In Hospital Following Shootout" (archived here) which opened:

Brandon 'Lil Bibby' Dickinson drill rapper out of Chicago is in hospital following shootout in Lake Shore Drive.

Users on social media only saw this title, description and thumbnail so it is easy to see why they might have confused it for actual news:

Rapper 'Lil Bibby' In Hospital Following Shootout

Brandon 'Lil Bibby' Dickinson drill rapper out of Chicago is in hospital following shootout in Lake Shore Drive.

However the site is part of a larger network of prank sites centered on thefakenewsgenerator.com and each page on the site has following disclaimer near the top:
